Planning the Perfect Micro Wedding
What Is a Micro Wedding and Why Should You Consider One?
Micro weddings, also known as intimate weddings, are all about celebrating your love in a way that’s uniquely yours. With a guest list of no more than 50, these smaller gatherings focus on close friends, ultimate besties, and family who mean the world to you. The beauty of a micro wedding? It’s all about you—your style, your vibe, and what feels right for your big day. You can embrace the traditional elements of a wedding or throw out the rulebook entirely. Let’s dive into why micro weddings are becoming the ultimate choice for modern couples.
Location/Venue
With a smaller guest list, the world of venues opens up. Forget the traditional wedding halls—think chic restaurants, magical outdoor spaces, or cosy boutique hotels. Are you a foodie at heart? Picture this: you and 30 of your favourite people enjoying an incredible meal at your go-to restaurant. Or imagine saying your vows in a serene woodland setting before heading off for a luxurious afternoon tea. Smaller numbers also make it easier to stretch the celebration over an entire weekend. Intimate weddings offer the flexibility to craft a celebration that’s completely your own.
Flowers
You didn’t think I’d get far without mentioning flowers, did you? With a larger wedding, so much of the budget is often tied up in venue hire and feeding a crowd. But with fewer guests, the possibilities for floral design truly blossom (pun intended). This is your chance to go all out with dramatic floral installations, elegant table settings, and dreamy bouquets filled with your favourites. Whether you’re envisioning lush hanging arrangements or statement centrepieces, a micro wedding gives your flowers the spotlight they deserve.
Your People
I was lucky enough to have the big country wedding I’d always dreamed of at my family home. It was perfect, stormy skies and all (because moody skies make for the best photos, right?). But with 120 day guests and 50 more in the evening, it was a whirlwind. By 7 p.m., I was ready to hit the dance floor with my closest mates, but it was all a bit overwhelming. With an intimate wedding, you can focus on the people who matter most. It’s calmer, more relaxed, and you’ll create memories that feel truly special—and that you’ll actually remember.
Destination Weddings
Dreaming of a destination wedding? With a smaller guest list, it’s much easier to make it happen. Whether it’s a sunset ceremony in Ibiza, dancing until sunrise, or a Tuscan villa filled with laughter and love for an entire weekend, a micro wedding opens up a world of possibilities. You can create an unforgettable experience without the guilt or logistical headache of a massive guest list.
Easy Planning
Smaller weddings naturally mean fewer moving pieces. If the thought of endless decision-making and logistical juggling makes you break out in hives, a micro wedding is your dream solution. Fewer guests, fewer tasks, less stress. Planning becomes more manageable, and the journey from engagement to “I do” is smoother and more enjoyable. You’ll have more time to savour the process and focus on the details that make your day unique.
For this Middleton Lodge wedding Nikki and Adam had 50 guests, they were able to really hone in on the finer details, the food, the styling and the florals. What you see is a beautiful representation of them. Really embracing nature and the intimacy of their friends and family.
Ready to Create Your Dream Day?
This is just a guide, but there are endless reasons to fall in love with the idea of a micro wedding. If you’re ready to start planning or need inspiration for your wedding flowers, I’d love to be part of your journey. Let’s create something unforgettable together.
