Oddfellows on the Park Wedding

I have the most stunning wedding at Oddfellows on the Park to share with you. Clare and Beth got married there back in May and had exclusive use of the gorgeous art deco-inspired venue.    I was delighted to be working with Clare and Beth to bring their vision to life.  Inspiration came from their sapphire engagement rings so blue was the main colour.  Clare is a keen mushroom forager and together they both love nature and bird watching so natural and free-form floral arrangements were really important.  There was even a surprise owl as a ring bearer.

Oddfellows is a wonderful, yet relatively new wedding venue in Cheadle, nestled in woodland you would never know Manchester was a stone's throw away.  Perfect for that modern elegant country vibe.   On our site visit, it was clear that the couple wanted an arch of sorts at the entrance to welcome the guests and to have something special for the grand staircase.  We came up with our own name for it - 'The Puddle' I will be using that description for all future staircase florals!  That is the great thing about Oddfellows, there are so many places to create amazing florals.

The wedding took place in early May, one of my favourite times of the year when nature is waking up and there is an abundance of Spring flowers.  Ranunculus and Anemone are at their best and I certainly used lots of them.  To balance out the dominance of the blue we went for a really gorgeous blush tone which came through using Quicksand roses, Westminster Abbey roses, spray roses and Astilbe.

Getting to create two different bridal bouquets is also a real treat and I try to ensure that they are different to reflect the individual but also compliment each other.  For Beth I went for a classic hand-tied bouquet, meaning she could hold it any which way and wouldn't need to think about it and for Clare, I chose a more structured style with an obvious front and back.  Both were finished off with beautiful blue shades of silk ribbon from the super talented Silk and Purl.

The couple got married in the exquisite Galloping Major room which has an exceptionally grand fireplace - perfect for florals!  thinking ahead to dressing the reception room we decided to go with a large collection of bud vases (As you might be aware I do love a bud!) they delicately covered the fireplace, using different coloured vintage bottles.

Clare and Beth opted for round tables for their reception and we used the bud vases and tapered blush candles to decorate.  Tapered coloured candles are a stylish way to introduce more colour and add some height to the tables.  Sometimes less is certainly more when it comes to centrepieces.  The doorway arch was then moved to frame their sweetheart table.  I do believe it's important where possible to reuse your florals as much as possible, it is more cost-effective and sustainable.

A massive thanks to Clare and Beth for sharing their wedding photos with me from the super talented Rachel Joyce
