Real Wedding - Ellen & Alex Roebuck Mobberley
Real Wedding: Ellen & Alex at The Roebuck Inn, Mobberley
I’m thrilled to share a beautiful winter wedding at The Roebuck Inn, Mobberley. Ellen and Alex tied the knot here in December 2021, and it’s hard to believe their first anniversary has already passed! This warm and cosy pub/hotel, with its low beams, dark interiors, and roaring fires, was the perfect venue for a December wedding.
Ellen and Alex had exclusive use of The Roebuck Inn, transforming it into a magical setting for their celebration. I was delighted to work with them to bring their vision to life. Ellen wanted the flowers to be a focal point of the day, steering away from anything too "Christmassy" but still embracing late autumnal tones. Her inspiration stemmed from the rust and blush-coloured bridesmaids' dresses and the delicate yet striking anemones.

A Unique Ceremony Setting
During our site visit, it became clear that Ellen and Alex envisioned something extraordinary for their ceremony. Collaborating with Sarah from Stories of Events, we created a celestial-inspired moon-shaped arch. This stunning design incorporated winter foliage and toffee roses, surrounded by Sarah's elegant props, including lanterns, carpets, and an abundance of candles. The result was a magical setting for their vows.
To welcome guests, Ellen requested one of my bespoke wreaths in her colour scheme. This wreath hung proudly on the entrance gate and later found a home on the couple's front door as a cherished keepsake.

Winter Weddings in Cheshire
Mid-December is a lovely time of year for a wedding. With the chilly weather a given, brides can embrace cosy fashion trends like chic jumpers or warm, stylish jackets over their dresses. Anemones, a favourite winter wedding flower, were just coming into season. Despite their tendency to close in colder temperatures, we successfully included them in Ellen’s bridal bouquet.
Creating Ellen’s bouquet was one of my favourite parts of the process. I designed a structured arrangement with a clear front and back, featuring toffee roses, Quicksand roses, astilbe, astrantia, anemones, and eucalyptus. It was finished with a stunning blush and rust silk ribbon from the talented Silk and Purl.

The Cosy Reception
The wedding breakfast was held in the main restaurant, which featured a roaring fire and candlelight. Ellen and Alex opted for long tables, perfect for their intimate gathering. We styled the tables with a collection of bud vases filled with blooms that complemented the stylist’s candles and drapes. Tapered coloured candles added a pop of colour and height, proving that sometimes less is more when it comes to centrepieces.
Later, these bud vases were repurposed to decorate the marquee, where guests danced the night away in a cosy atmosphere filled with sofas and tables.

Cheshire Wedding Flowers
Working as a Cheshire wedding florist, I strive to ensure that every arrangement reflects the couple’s individuality and vision. Ellen and Alex’s winter wedding was no exception. Their choice of seasonal flowers and rustic-chic decor perfectly complemented The Roebuck Inn’s charm.
A massive thank you to Ellen and Alex for allowing me to be part of their special day and to Gail Secker for the stunning photography.
